Many factors keep students from getting vaccinated

Even though the vaccine is available to the public, there are some Riverside students who have not received it.

In a series of interviews with The Pirates’ Hook, students described many obstacles that get in the way of getting vaccinated.

Some said they don’t have enough time to get it due to stuff coming up for school or work.

“I haven’t had time to get the vaccine because of school work,” said sophomore Nehemiah Lassiter.

Most unvaccinated students interviewed said they plan to get the vaccine, but something comes up, such as school, work, or personal affairs, that prevents them.

Some students said their parents will not allow them to get the vaccine,Others, however, have decided not to get it at all.

“I think that it is not necessary for me to take the vaccine because I see covid as the flu because it comes and goes,” said sophomore Alexis Velazques Vilchis.

“I don’t plan to get it because of the side effects it gives out,” said freshman Jamari Mcknight.

“i don’t trust it or the side effects it gives out,” said freshman Jazmin Castillo Torres.

Common side effects of the vaccine include headaches, muscle pain, tiredness, chills, fever and nausea.
