The Pirates’ Hook (PH): What brought you to Durham?
Claudia Ballon (CB): A teacher program called Participate Learning. I am an ambassador teacher.
PH: What do you teach?
CB: Right now, I’m teaching Spanish III and Heritage I
PH: How does your heritage affect your teaching?
CB: I think it somehow makes it more interesting, because I’m able to give a different perspective on the topics I teach.
PH: Where are you originally from?
CB: I’m from Peru in South America
PH: How long have you been teaching?
CB: This is my 35th year
PH: What is the best moment you’ve had teaching?
CB: That is a difficult question. I think I have had many, but the most fulfilling, I would say now.
PH: If you weren’t a teacher what would you be?
CB: I think a psychologist or life coach
PH: What is the your worst moment teaching?
CB: The times when I wasn’t able to help my students, either pass my course or on anything else
PH: Is there anything else you would like me to know that I didn’t ask you?
CB: That I love my work, I love being with my students and working alongside them.

PH: ¿Qué enseñas?
CB: Doy clases de Español III y Herencia I
PH: ¿Cómo afecta su herencia su enseñanza?
CB: Creo que de alguna manera lo hace más interesante, porque puedo ofrecer una perspectiva diferente sobre los temas que enseño.
PH: ¿De dónde eres originalmente?
CB: Soy de Perú en Sudamérica
PH: ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas enseñando?
CB: Este es mi 35º año
PH: Si no fueras profesora, ¿qué serías?
CB: Creo que una psicólogo o una entrenadora de Vida”
PH: ¿El peor momento enseñando?
CB: Las veces que no pude ayudar a mis alumnos, en aprobar la materia o en alguna otra cosa
PH: ¿Hay algo más que quisieras que supiera que no te pregunté?
CB: Que amo mi trabajo, amo estar con mis alumnos y trabajar junto a ellos. Y gracias al apoyo de mi familia.
