This year’s March Madness tournament had a crazy first week, with a record number of upsets. This was the first year a 16 seed (UMBC) has ever beat a number 1 seed (Virginia) by a score of 74-54!
Other notable upsets include Marshal (13) beating Wichita St (4), Syracuse (11) beating Michigan St (3), Texas A&M (7) beating UNC (2), FSU (9) beating Xavier (1), and all top 4 seeds from the South Region losing!
8 of our top 10 brackets have had their champion already eliminated, and the majority of the people in the top 25 have less than 2 teams left in their Final 4!
A couple of people could see movement up the leaderboards in the following week. Heeba Chergui, Timothy Guchigi, and Adam Kirsch are all candidates that have at least 3 teams and a champion in their final 4 left, and have a strong shot at winning.
