Hundreds of Riverside students participated in this year’s Spirit Week in preparation for the Homecoming football game and dance.

Riverside’s 2025 Spirit Week consisted of PJ Day on Monday, White Lie Tuesday, Wear Pink Wednesday, Mini Me Thursday and Pirate Pride Friday.

Sophomore Pascale Lodewick participated on Wednesday by wearing a pink sweater.

“It’s fun to see everyone get into it and dress up,” said Lodewick, “I like being able to choose what outfit to wear, too.”

Junior Rose Mills, participated in Mini Me day.

“I love twinning,” she said.

Spirit Week is a Riverside tradition designed to increase excitement about homecoming weekend. Teaching and learning coach Kelly Newsome, who graduated from Riverside in 2005, has participated as a student and faculty member.

“I think we could’ve been more creative with the days,” Newsome said.

Regardless, she still chose to participate in PJ Day on Monday to show her pride and to see the community come together.

After a shortened class schedule, Riverside held a pep rally at the football field where later tonight at 7 p.m. Riverside’s football team will seek for their first win against 3-4 East Chapel Hill.

The homecoming dance will be held in the cafeteria on Saturday at 7 p.m.
