Lil Yachty’s “Hit bout it” blasting through the speakers pregame, the Women’s volleyball team hyped up, but ultimately dropped last week’s showdown against DSA.
The Pirates won the first two sets 25-16 and 25-15, but lost the final three at the Bulldogs’ house.
Grace Hochdteler, Olivia McKinney, Damia Soles, and Kris’Ani Hunt were key players in the game. Hochdteler kept numerous plays alive and Soles demonstrated great ball control in her passes.
McKinney, a setter, and Hunt, the middle hitter, distributed the ball to each other and their teammates to create scoring opportunities.
“I think I played really good,” said Hunt, “but I could have been more consistent.”
The Pirates lost again to South Granville on Monday 3-0.
Currently 1-4 on the season, Thursday’s game against Hillside was postponed. A makeup date has not been scheduled. The Pirates will travel to Chapel Hill on Tuesday.
