Riverside Principal Moves On

Riverside Principal Tonya Williams Leathers announced on Thursday, November 12 that she will be stepping down at the end of the semester in January.

She will be taking a job as a High School Area Assistant Superintendent. Her new role will be to lead principals across Johnston County Public Schools.

“I will miss the Riverside school community, and the broader Durham community, as this is my home,” she said. “I am grateful for the almost thirteen years I spent in Durham as a principal.”

Durham Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Mubenga, is working hard to hire a new Riverside principal in the coming months.

The Pirate’s Hook staff will be interviewing Ms. Williams Leathers soon about this transition and what it means for students, staff, and the community.
