Women’s Soccer:
Women’s Soccer beat North Brunswick 2-1 on May 11 to record the program’s first playoff victory in 16 years.
Freshman Emily Heffernan and sophomore Ruby Davis scored for the Pirates, and sophomore Jocelyn Fernandez had an assist.
Riverside travels to Raleigh to face top-ranked Cardinal Gibbons on Thursday.

Men’s Lacrosse:
The men’s lacrosse finished the regular season 7-9 and play Clayton High School in the first round of the state playoffs on Friday.
Clayton finished the regular season 10-10. The game will be played at a neutral site on May 15.
“We’re pretty excited because it’s been a while since our school has made it into the playoffs,” said senior defenseman Jason Noble.
Track & Field:
Eight Pirates will compete in the NCHSAA 7A state championships this weekend at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro.

Men’s Volleyball
After finishing the regular season 16-8 and winning a conference title, the 8th-ranked Pirates drew a first round bye, then defeated Purnell Swett 3-0 in a second-round home game on Friday.
With just eight teams remaining in the tournament, Riverside lost to East Forsyth 3-2 on Monday.
Riverside fell behind two games to none to the Eagles, then stormed back to tie the match 2-2. East won the final game 15-10.

Golf
Senior Henry Sloop and freshman Spencer Wachter advanced through regionals and competed against 48 other golfers at States.
The tournament was held at Pinehurst No. 8. Over the course of the two-day tournament, Sloop shot a 172 and Wachter finished just behind him with a 175.
Marvin Ridge sophomore Ty Donnely won the state title with a score of 138.
