The front office bridge is operational

The front office has a new safety measure.

The bridge is meant for visitors, parents and students. Durham Public Schools’ security department wants every school in Durham to have visitors to go directly to the office. Every single school in Durham has either built a vestibule or a new door that leads straight to the front office, so they are informed who comes in and who comes out during the day.

The bridge actually didn’t take that long to build. Construction started August or September, and it was finished in March.

“It was supposed to be done in October but I knew it wasn’t going to happen,” said Principal Tonya Williams.

The district payed for the bridge. Some schools began construction earlier than others.

“We were in the middle of the group so some schools are still left,” said Williams.
